Maintaining efficient brakes on your vehicle is one of the most important aspects of keeping your car or truck healthy. When we do a brake job here at Reilly Auto Repair we use OE quality parts. These are the brake parts that are recommended for your vehicle. OE brake parts eliminate or limit noise, and limit deterioration while you drive. While doing a brake job we check the brake pads, brake lines, rotors, and calipers when applicable.

In regards to the rotors, if they are over spec we will turn them in house. What does this mean? Every vehicle has a rotor specification from the manufacturer. If the rotor is over the specification we can save the rotor by machining them; furthermore, giving the rotors a new, flat surface. If the rotor is under specification we would replace them as recommended by the manufacturer.

Calipers are part of the disc brake system;  when you push on the brakes, the brake fluid flows from the master cylinder to the calipers. Next, the brake fluid applies pressure to the piston inside the caliper. This pushes the brakes pads against the rotors to slow or stop your vehicle. Calipers can become bad if the vehicle is driven with low brake pads or uneven rotors. They can become contaminated, rusty, and will begin to leak brake fluid. In general, brake calipers absorb high temperatures generated from the brake system. Over time, this heat can deteriorate the quality of the calipers. If the calipers are bad or leaking it can be a dangerous safety hazard. The safety of our customers is of the utmost importance to us here at Reilly Auto Repair and is why we are so thorough when performing a brake job.
