Daytona Beach
Chevrolet Repair & Service
Chevrolet has been around for over 100 years now and we have seen our fair share of issues coming from General Motors (GM). The chevy bowtie is a classic American icon. We work on them daily at Reilly Auto Repair; from silverados, to corvette’s and camaro’s. Here is a list of common problems we see at our shop.
Chevrolet Silverado, Tahoe, Suburbans A/C Blows Warm
Daytona Beach and Holly Hill are too hot to have A/C problems. The Chevrolet’s are consistently having problems with the A/C compressors and their A/C condensers. They are leaking out all the freon in the system, causing your A/C to blow warm. The A/C compressors seem to have been resolved in recent years but now we are seeing an issue with the A/C condensers. Through research and experience the 2003-2014 are more common to have a compressor issue and the newer models are more often failing at the A/C condenser.
Chevrolet Corvette - Squeal Noise and ABS/Traction light on
Chevrolet corvette is the iconic american race car that has recently transformed into a mid-engine beast taking the looks of the exotic lambo and ferrari. We are factory trained to work on corvette’s and you will typically see them at our facility. The C5 and C6 generations have known issues with their harmonic balancers. They start to wobble, causing a squealing noise that can be quite annoying. We install aftermarket, performance balancers that are tested and proven to last. In our experience, A/C Delco balancers don’t do the trick and that is one part we tend to “upgrade” consistently in the shop. Another very common issue we see in corvette’s is the ABS dash light and/or the stabilitrak light. The EBCM (electronic brake control module) is known to fail and this is a major issue for our corvette community. The dealer has discontinued the production of these modules for quite some time now. Considering this is such a large problem, the quality used modules have been purchased and the inventory has been completely depleted. Specific codes are repairable but the dreaded C1214 is a major problem. The only attempt to fix the issue is to disassemble, dissect, and soder the module. THe repair is never guaranteed and is very meticulous. Overall, this problem sucks!!
You may be experiencing lack of power when you are driving around Daytona Beach or even see the message displayed “Engine Power is Reduced”. This can be a big problem because it feels like your car won’t accelerate or drive nearly as fast as it should. A few common codes that you may come across; PO122 “Switch A Circuit is Low” PO223 “Switch B Circuit is High” P2138 “defect within the D and/or E circuits”. Ultimately, there is a common failure within the electronic control and accelerator pedal sensors.
