Transmission Problems
Ford transmission problems start with surging, shuddering, slipping, and even lurching. It may start out randomly with no signs on consistency but this typically leads to a more prominent transmission issue in the near future. Reilly Auto technicians are Jasper certified and trained to identify transmission problems. If you feel like your transmission is starting to slip, pay attention to exactly what gear, speed, and if your vehicle is hot or cold when it happens. A "cold" vehicle means you have only been driving for the first 5-10 minutes of the day. "Hot" is when you have been driving and the temperature gauge is at operating temp which is typically identified when the gauge is right in the middle. Transmission problems can be costly, so it's important to identify the issue early on just in case we can prolong the inevitable fix.
Ford is Running Rough
You may notice your Ford doesn't run like usual when it starts to buck or it may lack acceleration. This is typically followed by a check engine light but sometimes it may not appear. We have seen faulty coils and spark plugs in Fords. Some F-150 models specifically are known for the spark plugs to break when removing them. This can cause a serious problem as it's difficult to get the broken spark plug out. They make a special tool for this and there is also a few things we can do to prevent the spark plugs from breaking. Do not attempt to replace your F-150 spark plugs if you're not familiar with this issue. It could cause you more headaches and money than anticipated.
